Once was not enough! I get to do it again! – Savoy
If you missed “Newsgirl” when it opened the Soulotheatre Festival in May to a sold out house, no worries! ‘Newsgirl’ is coming back Sept. 21st to 24th!
Written and performed by Savoy Howe with excellent direction and dramaturgy by Tracey Erin Smith, this is an absolute must-see!
The show is site specific, and Savoy tells the story from the middle of the boxing ring in the Newsgirl Boxing Club.
Highly recommend getting tickets now, as it will sell out!
“Savoy, big congratulations on a beautiful performance, on courageously sharing so much of yourself, and on creating a hilarious and deeply moving piece of theatre. I don’t think I have ever been part of an audience that was radiating such love to a performer and I am sure that a big part of that was that the love has flowed and was flowing reciprocally from you to us. It was a unique experience. We all loved it. We will be proud to buy a brick. Jack, Sarah and I all want to take classes with you. Audrey was so mad that we wouldn’t let her stay for the party that she was growling and punching her stuffed dog on the way home. Thank you so much for all you have done for so many women and for one of the best theatre experiences of my life.” – Wes Berger –
“The combination of Smith and Howe is a powerful partnership, a lovely example of what theatre can achieve. So long as shows like this exist, the world of theatre will continue to thrive.”
“Newsgirl’ is captivating, from beginning to end.”
